Anika Shah is currently an interior stylist and owner of Shahs of Style, a company that focuses on interior design for commercial and residential spaces in the DC metropolitan area. Her creativity, artistry and keen eye for space planning has brought joy to her countless clients. Her services include in-home consultation and personalized artistic design boards that enable the client to envision the proposed look and feel of the new space. Unique spaces she has recently designed include both residential spaces from kitchens to bedrooms and nurseries as well as commercial spaces including a religious center, doctors offices, and a coffee shop.
Anika is also an event planner for Emagine IT. She plans three major events a year: a corporate holiday party for 300 guests, a company picnic and an annual Casino Game Night aimed at raising funds for charity. Anika’s plans the events from soup to nuts: everything from selecting the venue to arranging transportation and accommodations. She personally works with the chef to create the menu, designs invitations, and chooses floral arrangements. She also serves as the hostess for all Emagine IT events and considers her main responsibility to be ensuring that the event is a memorable one for every guest.
Anika previously worked with (South Asians Leading Together) SAALT, a non-profit organization that fights for racial justice and advocates for the civil rights of all South Asians in the United States. At SAALT, Anika was in charge of the “Be the Change” program, a national day of service to honor Mahatma Gandhi and other South Asian leaders who have dedicated their lives to public service. Her role was to coordinate and follow through with all of the various chapter leaders throughout the country. “Be the Change” enlisted thousands of participants who were motivated to be involved with civic engagement and community enrichment.
Anika looks forward to applying her event planning and design expertise as the Annual Gala Coordinator for BLOOM. She looks forward to creating beautiful fundraising events and reunions for adopted children in the United States and lend her creativity to various projects designed to ease the suffering of orphans living in Morocco. She looks forward to engaging her followers of her blog, Shahs of Style, to increase awareness of BLOOM.
